McCann London poaches 4Creative exec as new chief creative officer

Creative agency McCann London has named 4Creative’s executive creative director, Lynsey Atkin as its new chief creative officer. She will take up the role later this year.

Atkin will take over the role from incumbent co-chief creative officers and co-presidents Rob Doubal and Laurence Thomson, who are set to depart McCann for M&C Saatchi later in the year in a major coup announced in April.

The pair had held the dual office for over 11 years, and their lasting legacy at the London agency will no doubt leave Atkin with rather large shoes to fill.

“It’s rare that you get the chance to work with the exact person you wanted. Serendipitously, that’s exactly what’s happened. Lynsey is a powerhouse in our industry, renowned for her creative judgment, her stellar track record and her incredible energy,” McCann London CEO, Polly McMorrow said.

“She’s made an indelible mark on the creative industry with her work at Channel 4, and I’m excited by the seismic impact she’ll have across our business, our leadership and our clients alike.”

In her new role, Atkin will report into CEO Polly McMorrow and McCann Worldgroup’s global chief creative officer, Javier Campopiano. She joins McCann London after close to five years leading Channel 4’s in-house creative division.

Campopiano added: “It is rare to find talent driven by relentless creativity, exceptional craft, leadership gravitas and a human touch that fosters excellence and joy.”

“Lynsey embodies all these qualities and has excelled in one of the industry’s toughest jobs, consistently elevating the Channel 4 brand. We are thrilled she is joining us as CCO at McCann London. This is a pivotal moment for us, and Lynsey will drive our push for radical creativity.”
