British mobile ad agency Ogury has completed its takeover of Paris-based marketing software platform, Motionly.

Motionly’s technology and sector expertise will be used to enhance Ogury’s creative studio as it looks to expand its digital marketing offering to its list of over 1,200 clients worldwide.

The Paris-based firm specialises in creating “interactive rich media animations in-app and in-web” and has designed animated advertising content for such clients as luxury watch maker Montblanc, sportswear giant Nike and car manufacturer BMW.

As part of the acquisition Motionly’s founder, Édouard Mercier will be joining the British agency as its new VP of engineering, bringing over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and software developer to the table. Mercier will be based out of Ogury’s Paris office.

“Digital ads can be as amazing as they can be invasive and passive,” Mercier said.

“This is the key idea that drove the creation of Motionly five years ago, with the ultimate goal of bringing end-users entertainment and control over creative ads.

“Ogury shares the same vision of what mobile creativity should be. So, joining such a leader in mobile advertising is the perfect next move for Motionly’s growth.”

Ogury CEO, Thomas Pasquet added: “Marketers must adapt to an ever-changing digital landscape and are seeking innovative ways to engage users on mobile.

“You can have the best targeting technology in the world, its impact will become irrelevant without engaging creative formats.

This equation has always been at the core of our technology stack, and we’re excited to bring creativity to the next level with Motionly.”

Ogury will hope the acquisition will enable it to build on the significant success it has achieved since being established in 2014, having been named the 16th fastest growing company in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 in 2020.
