Pizza Hut and VMLY&R give away free pizzas in Call of Duty

Pizza Hut Australia and creative agency VMLY&R have entered the video game Call of Duty to give out free pizza to gamers.

The initiative invited streamers to enter an area of the game to use the new in-game ‘proximity chat’ function to contact Call of Duty players during the ’Warzone’ mode.

Streamers GHHutz or Manik had to take orders for pizzas while partaking in a gunfight in the Al Mazerah map.

”It’s hard to stay relevant in gaming, but for Pizza Hut to capitalize on the new proximity chat function in Call of Duty just days after launch is a real win,” VMLY&R Melbourne and Sydney group executive creative director, Jake Barrow, said.

”As a COD veteran, I know that if you’re going to get rekt, you may as well do it with a free Pepperoni Lovers.”

The news comes months after the pizza-chain partnered with ad-tech firm Say It Now and agency Navigate Digital to create a smart speaker advertising campaign that enables customers to claim delivery discounts.
