Brisbane 2032 Olympics appoints VMLY&R as lead brand agency

The organising committee for the upcoming 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic games has today (20 December) appointed VMLY&R’s Brisbane office to oversee the creation of the emblems for both games, alongside a supporting visual brand strategy.

VMLY&R secured the business as part of a consortium of primarily Queensland-based agencies which includes Landor & Fitch, Kantar Public and First Nations consultancy, BlackCard, guaranteeing that over 20 local employers will be involved in delivering the games’ emblems.

The US agency and consortia’s extensive involvement in previous high-profile sporting events such as the Sydney, London, Rio de Janeiro, Nagano, Salt Lake City, Milan Cortina and Atlanta Olympic and Paralympic Games tipped the balance according to the committee’s president, Andrew Liveris, who said:

“It is important to us that we engage organisations that understand, and ideally work within, the local market, have demonstrated capability to work on the global stage, and align to the values of Brisbane 2032, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee.”

“We are confident that the winning bid embraces our local assets, creates efficiency in line with the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Agenda 2020+5 and New Norm and above all, will deliver showstopping Brisbane 2032 Emblems and visual brand assets, so that we put our best foot forward globally.”

VMLY&R managing director Adam Kennedy added: “We are honoured and humbled to be able to play this important role in setting the brand strategy and visual identity for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We know how important this opportunity is to the people of Brisbane, Queensland, and Australia.”
