Daniel Craig narrates heartbreaking new spot for DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal

Public broadcaster Channel 4 has brought together a series of major media owners to gift advertising space for a Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal spot.

Narrated by Hollywood star Daniel Craig, the film sees Channel 4 come together with ITV, UKTV, Channel 5, Sky, STV, Warner Bros. Discovery and Ocean Outdoor to call on the public to donate to the DEC’s ongoing work on the ground in Turkey and Syria alongside its charity partners.

The 90-second spot will run from 9.55pm tonight (24 February) across 29 UK TV channels and will appear in various high-impact Ocean Outdoor out-of-home locations such as Westfield London, Canary Wharf, Liverpool Media Wall, New Street Birmingham and The Printworks Manchester.

“Seeing the devastation of the earthquake, we wanted to use the power of a joint broadcaster and advertising initiative to help raise awareness for this important cause,” Channel 4 chief revenue officer, Verica Djurdjevic said.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Recipe and the plethora of other media owners who have also offered their support through this project.”

Following an initial film released on 9 February, this updated version was produced pro-bono by London agency Recipe and will also run on Channel 4’s YouTube channel throughout the weekend
