Mission Group revenue jumps by 10% despite ‘unprecedented challenges’

Creative agency collective The Mission Group has seen its revenue jump by 10% year-on-year, despite experiencing ‘unprecedented challenges’ throughout 2022.

In its latest update to the city, issued this morning, the group – a network of digital marketing and communications agencies – described its FY2022 performance as “resilient”, driven largely by sustained growth across its agency portfolio.

Much of this growth has been driven by acquistions, with youth creative consultancy Livity, sports marketing agency Influence Sports & Media and social media agency Populate all joining The Mission Group over the past year.

Despite ongoing “macro-economic pressures” across the board, Mission said its 10% revenue improvement was “testament to the strength of its business model and strategy in a further year of unprecedented challenges”.

It also attributed the successes of the past year to its strong investment in creative, customer experience capabilities and data analytics offering, as well as a number of new blue-chip client wins including Diageo, Disney+, ScS, Bugatti and Macmillan Cancer.

“Mission delivered a resilient performance in 2022,” said CEO James Clifton.

“While the macro-economic environment has continued to pose challenges for all businesses and constrained growth across the majority of sectors and markets, we have remained focused on our strategic growth plans, building on the strong momentum achieved in the previous years.

“The investments made throughout the business position us well to capitalise on the growth opportunities that continue to present themselves.”

Former McCann Worldgroup president, Mark Lund also joined the Mission Group board as a non-executive director and deputy chair to help better guide the group through its strategic growth plan.

Clifton added that trading in 2023 has “begun well” and remains in line with the Board’s expectations, with revenue generation weighted towards the second half of the year.
