Independent media agency Medialab has snapped up the planning and buying account for charity Save the Children.

As reported in Campaign magazine, the agency will take over from incumbent account Essence Mediacom following a competitive review.

Speaking to Campaign Medialab managing director Alex Kirk said the agency is “delighted” to be partnering with Save the Children, “at a time when Save the Children’s role has a greater significance than ever before”.

Marking the war in Ukraine, in February last year, the charity notably collaborated with Aardman to make a short film centred on the experience of refugee children arriving to the UK.

In September, the organisation also launched a campaign centred around the theme of “Our Proudest Moments” which showcased key moments in the journeys of the children the charity has helped.

The news that Medialab has won the Save the Children pitch comes after recent success in gaining the Marie Curie and Standard Life accounts.

The agency has recently appointed Jon Manning, who was previously at Starcom, as its new director of advanced television, building on a team which has been bolstered by Jess Talbot as head of planning.
