Digitas UK appoints new chief operating officer

Digitas UK has appointed Matt Lodder as its new chief operating officer. He replaces previous incumbent Owen Hughes, who left in June after more than three years with the agency.

Taking up his new from next month, Lodder will now be responsible for the Publicis-owned firm’s UK business operations and delivery model, in a bid to grow business with both current and prospective clients.

On his appointment, Lodder said: “It’s a great time to be joining Jen and the Digitas team. They’re on a roll right now and the ambition is strong. They have the talent, the culture and the breadth of capabilities to connect all the dots and collaborate with bold clients to create real impact. I’m looking forward to being part of a talented agency team again. It feels like anything is possible.”

Reporting in to chief executive Jennifer Berry, Lodder will join the Digitas UK leadership team. He has spent the last few years working as a consultant having left his role as EMEA managing director of global agency R/GA.

Berry added: “Matt’s appointment to this crucial role will be pivotal as we take Digitas to the next level. He understands the complexity and craft of our business and has deep, digital knowledge, as well as being a formidable and strategic operator, all of which will make him invaluable. His role will be critical as we continue to build outstanding experiences centred on our clients and their consumers.”

Lodder’s appointment appointment comes a year after Berry’s, who in January 2023 replaced Dani Bassil after close to five years leading the agency.
