Watch: Touching new Battersea Dogs & Cats Home spot reveals unending bond

A new spot from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home tells the story of the bond between a new member of staff and rescue dog, Lucy.

Created by New Commercial Arts and directed by Magna Studios’ Hector Dockrill, the three-minute film is set to the tune of “Home Again” by Michael Kiwanuka, and shows the member of staff bonding with the dog over time.

Eventually, the dog seems to have disappeared but has actually ended up on an operating table, and needs to then undergo rehabilitation treatment. It ends on a joyful note showing how the home helps to bring animals back to full strength.

The new ad comes as part of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s #All In For Them platform which showcases the dedicated work staff carry out on behalf of the cats and dogs they look after.

The film will be supported by work across BVOD, OOH, press and social and digital, as well as a two-minute cut of the film displayed in cinemas.

New Commercial Arts founder and chief creative officer Ian Heartfield said: “Battersea is one of the most loved charities in the world. It has been a privilege to tell the stories of the hard work love, and specialist skill that goes into taking care of every dog and cat.”

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home director of marketing and communications Sarah Matthews said: “At Battersea we have been using care and expertise to improve the lives of animals for over 160 years.

“Every day our staff and volunteers go all in for the dogs and cats we support, not just at our centres where we rehabilitate and rehome thousands of animals each year, but across the UK and overseas too through our training, campaigning, funding and more.

“Our new brand platform and campaign shine a light on our dedication to being here for every dog and cat.”
